The Orient Bethpage offers a straightforward, authentic Cantonese dining experience tucked along Hicksville Road, serving up a reliable spread of Chinese classics in a casual, no-frills environment. This full-service restaurant draws a steady local crowd—often nearby office workers dropping in for a quick yet satisfying lunch, families celebrating special occasions, and dim sum enthusiasts gathering mostly on weekends when the dim sum carts roll around.

The atmosphere leans toward bustling and practical rather than polished or trendy. Expect a lively room especially during peak times, with efficient service that keeps the dim sum and popular dishes moving briskly from kitchen to table. It’s an ideal spot for those who appreciate food prepared with attention to traditional techniques and freshness without the fuss of modern fusion twists.

Regulars seem to favor the dim sum offerings—making it a rare find on Long Island for those craving classic Cantonese bite-sized plates like shrimp and chive dumplings, taro dumplings, and the always popular chicken feet. Beyond dim sum, the kitchen turns out crowd-pleasing mains such as General Tso’s chicken, roast pork lo mein, and various pan-fried noodles, all noted for feeling freshly made and flavorful. The menu’s balance of fried rice, noodle dishes, and hot soups caters well to both quick solo lunches and more extensive dinners.

Service is consistently prompt and attentive, which helps keep the flow smooth even when the place fills up—especially on weekends or holiday celebrations like Lunar New Year. Takeout is another strong suit, with many locals relying on it for convenient, reliable Chinese food that tastes homemade. Coffee or cocktails don’t belong here; instead, tea accompanies many meals, completing the modest but fitting traditional Cantonese dining experience.

Visitors should consider stopping by earlier in the day if they want to avoid waits, particularly for the dim sum brunch, which attracts a steady crowd eager to sample freshly steamed offerings. Those working nearby might find it a convenient and satisfying Friday treat after a week of bringing their own lunch, while families and groups appreciate the variety and familiar flavors for sharing.

I used to visit this spot weekly for their lunch special: General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Lately, I've been saving money by bringing my own lunch to work, but this place is just down the block from my job, so I treat myself on Fridays because it's that good. The food tastes incredibly fresh, and you can tell they put care into preparing each dish. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere is super relaxed. My coworkers and I still make it a regular stop. Highly recommend!

One of the few spots on LI that serves real dim sum as well as traditional Cantonese food. We went the other day to celebrate the Lunar New Year and were very fortunate to get a seat just as they opened (restaurant is always busy and often has a wait especially on the weekends for dim sum). They have a busy takeout service. Fast and attentive service from the staff including those with dim sum carts who try to stop at each table and make sure to let you know what's available. Salt and pepper calamari is just absolutely delicious - perfect balance of flavors and was served hot. If you're in the Bethpage area and want good dim sum you should check out The Orient.

We've been visiting this place a couple of times now, and so far their consistent with their food and services. We love dimsums. We came brunch, and they served freshly cooked dimsum. We love their chicken feet, siomai, cheung fun, shrimp cheung fun, taosi spareribs, bean curd roll, custard egg tart, and pork congee. The price is competitive, and the people are very nice. We will surely come back for more dimsum. If you are a Chinese dimsum lover and around the neighborhood, I recommend you try it. The only thing I gave 4 star for atmosphere is because the place has a very tight space. We came and their almost jam. Since we came to eat, we don't bother.

I flew to New York for a quick weekend and spend time with family. My sister asked me what I was creating for, and I said Asian food. I was impressed with this restaurant, the service is impeccable, the food was excellent , and I can't wait to go back again! This is real Cantonese food! It felt cozy and I can tell many people enjoy this place.

Probably one of the better dim sum places on Long Island. Go there every now and then. Seems to be well known. I drive a good 40 minutes from where I live. Recommend it when you are in the mood for dim sum.
